SPACIAL DESIGN

LIGHTING ARTIST

Overview

A live experience concept for a major energy company's new Shanghai headquarters, translating their wind turbine and energy management expertise into large-scale spatial storytelling.

The challenge was creating a space that worked as a product showcase, interactive experience, and operational workspace all at once—kind of like level design where multiple systems need to coexist seamlessly. I used real-time technology to rapidly prototype concept art and work directly with stakeholders, delivering weekly concepts over 4 months that brought their sustainability mission to life through immersive environmental design.

conclusion

This project was pretty unique and taught me a lot. Working under tight constraints with constant pitch deck changes over 4 months really strengthened my concept art pipeline and environmental storytelling skills. The challenge of turning complex corporate messaging into compelling spatial stories really expanded my ability to bridge technical innovation with emotional engagement.

Designing interconnected real-world spaces felt a lot like level design, where every visual choice serves both aesthetic and functional purposes—except this was for an actual building people would work in. Getting to work adjacent to architecture was something completely different for me, and I loved how it opened my eyes to new possibilities beyond traditional game environments.
